COMPARATIVE ESSAY: LOST AND DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES

Two amazing options to spend your time. With “Lost” and “Desperate Housewives” you can have a really good time. And although both show us that they have some similarities such as the channel where they appear, they also share some differences which help people to decide which one to watch.
One noticeable difference is the number and the kind of characters. In “Lost” there are nine principal characters, who are a group of people that dress dirty clothes because as the name of the program says they are “Lost” in an island. In “Desperate Housewives” we can see that there are four main characters. These women dress elegant clothes and have a polite behavior. In contrast to “Lost”, they live in a small neighborhood instead of sand ground or caves. Perhaps if people watch how each character lives or behaves they could decide which program they like better, but they can also decide through other characteristics.
The kind of program that each one of these is, is another choice which helps us to decide which one we prefer. “Lost” distinguishes itself as a program with a lot of suspense. In each episode, while we are watching, we are also biting our nails. There are different situations where we see how characters are worried, which make us also get worried along with them. However, if we want to laugh, we have “Desperate Housewives” living situations, that real or not, make us feel identified even with the less important character. But, what happen if we cannot decide yet which is better although we have already seen two options to decide? We cannot lose maybe the most important characteristic which is the plot.
The plot is definitely, the most helpful aspect to make a decision. “Lost” is about an airplane that had mechanic failures and fell down in two parts, the frontal part on an island and the back in the water. Some of the people who were inside died and other part could survive but also were hurt. Moreover, although they do not know each other, they have to help themselves to survive until somebody takes them to the civilization. Nevertheless, “Desperate Housewives” is about a group of friends who are neighbors. They live different problems and differences among them. Also, they have to face the behavior of new neighbors who make these women feel uncomfortable with their families and lives, making them also, remember bad and old experiences. Is it enough? Now is your turn to decide one of them, depending on what you are looking for or expecting with help of the three aspects mentioned before.
Perhaps, depending on what people like or how they what to live, taking experiences of one of these programs, they can decide which one to watch. Although the differences are many between them, they are going to give you a great moment; because, neither “Lost” nor “Desperate Housewives” are going to make you get bored, and you will enjoy watching each one of the episodes.
